Huawei Ideos S7 : Rooting and Flashing Tutorial

Rooting

via Super One Click
� Download SuperOneClick here. Unrar / Unzip the package on the PC.
� Connect the tablet with a PC, make sure the USB debugging option is checked. Check the settings> application> development. Do not mount usb (go to USB mass storage mode)
� Make sure the drivers installed.
� Run SuperOneClick.exe (run as administrator on Vista and Win7)
� Click the "root". Wait until the process is complete.
� Restart the handset. Done.

Flashing (upgrade / downgrade)

Flashing can be run in two ways: via usb (connection PC / laptop) and via sdcard.

# 1 Via USB
� USB upgrade mode
1. Log in to upgrade mode. In powered off, turn on the handset and hold the "back " and "call" simultaneously. If successful, a white progress bar will appear.
2. Connect to PC / Laptop
3. If this is the first time to upgrade using USB, then the system may warn of new devices like the following picture. Do not worry, this indicates that the USB upgrade mode in the system successfully.



� Install drivers
1. Download the drivers here. Unrar / unzip the package on your PC / laptop.
2. In the device manager (pictured above), right click on the Other device / Huawei Technologies, select update driver. Navigate to the folder drivers which is already downloaded
3. If the driver successfully installed, it comes like the following picture.





� Flashing
1. Download huawei S7 Tools Upgrade here. Unrar / unzip the package on your PC / laptop. Folder contains: WH62406270ML01Ver1002.exe, s70.xml, and upgrade guide
2. Download the official firmware (for example v.2.2.2 Froyo). Unrar / unzip the package on your PC / laptop. Contains dload folder that contains: UPDATE.APP, upg.log, and unlmt.cfg.
3. WH62406270ML01Ver1002.exe Run (run as administrator on vista/win7).
4. Select an upgrade package that has been downloaded (UPDATE.APP) and configuration (s70.xml) like the following picture.



5. Start to upgrade by clicking the "Scan & download". If run, it will be shown as in the following figure.



6. Once completed, the handset will reboot automatically. Wait a few moments to really get into homescreen.
7. Turn off the handset. Unplug and reinsert the battery. Then switch back.
8. Done.

# 2 Via (external) sdcard
� Copy Firmware to sdcard
1. Download the official firmware (for example v.2.2.2 Froyo). Unrar / unzip the package on your PC / laptop. Contains dload folder that contains: UPDATE.APP, upg.log, and unlmt.cfg.
2. Copy the dload folder and all its contents to the root sdcard. Make sure sdcard FAT/FAT32 formatted with windows system.
3. Enter the sdcard into the handset in the off condition.
� Flashing
1. Log in to upgrade mode. Is powered off, turn on the handset and hold the "back " and "call" simultaneously. If successful a white progress bar will appear and the upgrade process will run automatically.
2. The upgrade process is running (the LED will blink slowly, about once every 2 seconds).
3. If the upgrade succeeded LED will light up and hold together with a screen that shows the results of the upgrade (100%). If the upgrade fails, the LED will blink fast, approximately 3 times per second.
4. Once completed, the handset will reboot automatically. Wait a few moments to really get into homescreen.
5. Turn off the handset. Unplug and reinsert the battery. Then switch back.
6. Done.

ClockWorkMod Recovery
� Make sure the ADB driver installed. (Tutorial on the driver installation)
� Download CWM auto script . Extract on PC / laptop.
� Connect the tablet with a PC / laptop, make sure the USB debugging option is checked. Check the settings> application> development. Do not mount usb (go to USB mass storage mode).
� Run install_now.cmd. Tablet will go into fastboot mode.
� Follow the instructions to complete and reboot the handset.
� Done.
